It is a tremendous honor for Amy and I to serve as chairpersons of the 2017 FBC Stewardship Campaign. This year marks an incredible time in the life of our church as we enter into the coming year debt free! What an enormous blessing that God has poured out on our church and the kingdom work that we are committed to do! I’m excited to be a part of this work and I’m looking forward to the plans that God has for us in the coming year.
Our stewardship theme for this year is Faithful Giving. Luke 16:10 reminds us that “He who is faithful in little is also faithful in much….” As I think about stewardship, I’m reminded that God gives us the ability to be involved in His work in a variety of ways. God is the author and sustainer of all our resources, and we should be faithful in using them to live out the purpose at First Baptist, which is to bring them in, build them up, and send them out. Stewardship should be a way of life for each of us, and should be a reflection of our love and service to the Lord.
In Malachi 3:10, the Lord says “Bring in all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. Test me in this, and see if I will not open the windows of Heaven for you with a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in.” Jesus said in His Word that He came so that we would have life, and have it to the fullest! Not only does He want to sustain us, He wants to prosper us according to Jeremiah 29:11. Ever wonder what blessing God has in store for us if we will simply test him with our resources?
It’s our prayer that everyone will join the stewardship campaign and make a “faith promise” or pledge towards our 2017 ministry plan and give back a portion of what He has blessed you with. In the word’s of the wise Adrian Rodgers, “When you tithe you’ll do more with nine tenths and God as a partner than you will ever do with ten tenths by yourself.”
Let’s also commit to get off the sidelines and join the many opportunities of Kingdom work being done at FBC. Stewardship includes our time and availability to be His hands and feet to a lost and fallen world. Let’s pray that we make every part of our lives a stewardship which reflects the eternal investment we want to make in heaven.
In Christ’s Love,
Brian & Amy Castleberry
