Founded in 1888, Woman’s Missionary Union is an auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention that seeks to equip adults, youth, children and preschoolers with missions education to become radically involved in the mission of God. Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, WMU is a nonprofit organization that offers an array of missions resources including conferences, ministry ideas and models, volunteer opportunities, curriculum for age-level organizations, leadership training, books and more. WMU was first organized by the women of FBC in 1889. The Women’s Missionary Union challenges Christian believers to understand and be involved in the mission of God through ministry and witness, develop missions awareness, support mission work through prayer and giving and nurture lifestyles that reflect commitment and obedience to the Great Commission. WMU involves ongoing mission opportunities for preschoolers to adults.
