Pray for and PULL ON Our Students!

These are tough times to be a teen.

Young people are bombarded by pressures and temptations to take the world’s low roads. In contrast, Jesus constantly calls us to follow Him on the narrow road that leads to spectacular views and fulfilling adventures. Jesus invites us to join Him on a journey of love, joy, purity and service. Yet the deceptive voice of the evil one hisses an invitation to follow the seductive and destructive path of selfishness and rebellion.

During the vulnerable teenage years our church provides some excellent resources to guide our treasured youth. At the top of our list stand Russell McCrory and Caleb Farrow along with their leadership team. They endeavor to teach God’s transforming and protecting truths with the explanation of their lips and the illustration of their lives. However, the ultimate discipler of a teenager is their PARENTS! Are you the kind of parent who is diligently discipling your child for the Cause of Christ? This story shares God’s challenge:

A few years ago on a hot day in Florida, a little boy decided to go swimming in the lake behind his house. He jumped into the lake’s liquid refreshment. As he swam toward the middle of the pond, he did not realize that an alligator was swimming toward him. His father, working in the yard, saw the danger. In desperation, he ran toward the lake yelling for his son to return to the shore. As the father waded into the water and reached for his son’s arms, simultaneously the gator snatched the boy’s legs. A vicious tug-of-war ensued. A neighbor heard the screams and raced to the lake with a rifle and shot the gator.

Remarkably, the boy survived. His legs were scarred by the vicious attack. Additionally, on his arm were deep scratches where his father’s fingernails dug into his flesh in an effort to hang on to his beloved boy. A reporter interviewed the boy about the trauma and asked to see his scars. The lad lifted his pant legs and displayed his wounds. Then with great pride, he showed the reporter his arms. He explained, “I have big scars on my arms because my daddy wouldn’t let go!”

Parents, there is an invisible tug-of-war for the heart of every child between the Good Shepherd and the evil thief. Join in the fight by leading your children to Christ, and then use your lips and your life to grow your young disciple into the image of Jesus.
