How do you picture Jesus?

I have visited some of the great art museums of the world:  the Louvre in Paris, the Prado in Madrid, the Uffizi in Italy, London’s National Portrait Gallery, and the Getty in Los Angeles. Many of the greatest artists focused their craft on trying to capture a revealing and exalting image of Christ. It is fascinating to observe how different renowned artists portray Jesus. Some place a halo over His head. The Renaissance masters generally pictured Jesus as thin, effeminate, serious, sad, and never smiling. However, when I picture Jesus, I think of Psalm 2:4 which declares, “The One enthroned in Heaven laughs.”

I see Jesus not as an aloof wimp, but as a strong, outgoing, warm, loving and laughing friend. Perhaps you need to adjust your image of Jesus. In my study, I keep before me a picture of the laughing Jesus. Today, borrow my visualization of our Savior. In your sanctified imagination envision Jesus joyfully embracing you and walking with you on the wonderful adventure of your daily journey!
